A Lifelong Leader in Lacrosse, Business, and Community
Early Education and Athletic Beginnings
Sedgwick graduated from Jamesville-DeWitt High School in 1975, continued his academic and athletic development at Loomis Chaffee Prep School in 1976, and later attended Syracuse University, graduating in 1980. At Syracuse, he majored in Geography and was an active member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
His fraternity involvement continued long after graduation. Sedgwick played a key role in the 2008 re-colonization of the Psi Psi Chapter and has served on the Sigma Chi Alumni Association Board of Directors since 2007.
Syracuse University Lacrosse Captain
During his collegiate athletic career, Sedgwick earned four letters in lacrosse and served as captain of the 1980 Syracuse University men’s lacrosse team. As a starting midfielder, he was selected to compete in the prestigious 1980 North-South Game, where the North earned a victory under Coach Roy Simmons Jr.
His dedication to Syracuse lacrosse extended beyond his playing years. He became a founding member of the Syracuse University Stickmen’s Club in 1980 and has remained a longtime Orange Club member. Sedgwick has generously supported the Roy Simmons Jr. and Sr. Scholarships, the John Desko Scholarship, and the Syracuse women’s lacrosse program—on which his daughter Sarah once played.
In 2012, Syracuse University honored his athletic and alumni contributions with the Letterman of Distinction Award.
