The Upstate Lacrosse Foundation is proud to announce Todd Cavallaro as one of the Hall of Fame inductees for the Class of 2023. Todd Cavallaro’s impressive lacrosse journey, marked by exceptional achievements both as a player and a coach, has left an indelible mark on the sport. This recognition is a testament to his dedication, leadership, and passion for lacrosse.

High School Glory

Cavallaro’s lacrosse journey began at Corning East High School, where he graduated in 1990. It was here that he first showcased his extraordinary talent and leadership on the field. In his senior year, Corning East High School clinched the 1990 NY State High School Championship title, with Todd Cavallaro playing a pivotal role in their victory. His exceptional performance earned him the Most Valuable Player (MVP) title in the New York State Championship Game, cementing his status as a rising star in the sport.

Beyond his high school championship, Todd’s lacrosse prowess extended to the Western Empire State Games, where he served as the captain for two consecutive years. His contributions to the sport were further recognized when he received the prestigious Shawn P. Corcoran Memorial Award. Todd’s remarkable skills led to his selection for the High School North/South Game, where the best high school players from across the nation competed.

Collegiate Success at Johns Hopkins University

Todd Cavallaro’s journey continued at Johns Hopkins University, where he earned a reputation as a stellar player and leader. He donned the captain’s armband for the university’s lacrosse team, guiding them to two Final Four appearances. His exceptional contributions to the team’s success were acknowledged when he was selected for the Division I North/South Game.

At Johns Hopkins, Todd’s achievements extended beyond the field. He received the Turnbull-Reynolds Award for Team Play, Sportsmanship, and Leadership, highlighting his commitment to the core values of lacrosse. Furthermore, he was honored with the Sydney G. Erlanger Award for Outstanding Senior, underscoring his overall excellence as a student-athlete. His alma mater recognized his outstanding contributions by inducting him into the Corning-Painted Post Hall of Fame and the Section IV New York State Hall of Fame.

Coaching Triumphs

Todd Cavallaro’s lacrosse journey did not end with his playing career. He transitioned seamlessly into coaching, where he has continued to excel. Currently, he serves as the Head Coach at Franklin and Marshall College, a role he has held for an impressive 17 years.

Before his tenure at Franklin and Marshall College, Todd had assistant coaching stints at esteemed institutions such as Washington College, Johns Hopkins, UNC, and UPenn. These experiences allowed him to develop a deep understanding of the game and hone his coaching skills.

As a coach, Todd Cavallaro has achieved remarkable success. Under his guidance, the Franklin and Marshall College lacrosse team claimed the Division III National Championship in 1998. His coaching acumen has also led to four Division I playoff appearances and two Division I Final Four appearances. His coaching prowess was duly recognized when he was named the Centennial Conference (CC) Coach of the Year in both 2013 and 2017.

In addition to his conference accolades, Todd led his team to Centennial Championship victories in 2017 and 2021, further solidifying his reputation as a top-tier lacrosse coach. His impact on the players he mentors is evident in the 28 All-Americans he has coached at Franklin and Marshall College.
