As the Managing Director at Tradeweb Markets, a significant financial institution, Jim is a prominent figure in the corporate world. Educational Journey

Jim’s educational journey has been nothing short of impressive. He graduated from C.W. Baker High School in Baldwinsville, New York, leaving a legacy that continues to inspire young athletes today. In 1993, he was awarded the Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year. His exceptional performance in three varsity sports in a single year earned him the prestigious C.W. Baker Principal’s Award.

Jim then pursued his passion for Political Science at Duke University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree. He further honed his knowledge and skills by obtaining an MBA from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. These academic achievements laid a strong foundation for his future success.

A Lacrosse Legend

Jim Gonnella’s name is revered in the lacrosse world. His journey in the sport began at C.W. Baker High School, where he not only excelled but set new standards of excellence. He was an All-American in 1992 and 1993, showcasing his incredible talent. Jim’s dedication and skills were further acknowledged when he participated in the NILA North-South All-Star Game in 1993.

He was a consistent presence in the All-County 1st team in 1992 and 1993, with an Honorable Mention in 1991. Jim’s prowess was evident when he was named the OHSL All-Star Game Offensive MVP in 1993. He was also celebrated as part of the “Terrific Ten” in CNY, sharing the top spot with Tommy Smith in 1993. His remarkable achievements continued as he became the team MVP in 1992 and 1993.

Jim was not just a remarkable player; he was a leader. He led his team in points, goals, assists, and ground balls, setting impressive records. A Multi-Sport Athlete

In soccer, he was part of the All-County 1st team in 1991, 1992, and 1993. He earned the title of Team MVP in 1992 and 1993 and was recognized as an OHSL Exceptional Senior in 1993.

The Duke University Era

Jim continued his remarkable journey in lacrosse at Duke University. He was named to the ACC 50th Anniversary Men’s Lacrosse Team and was awarded Division I Midfielder of the Year in 1997. His talent shone as he achieved All-American status, receiving 3rd team honors in 1996 and 1st team honors in 1997. He was also part of the ACC All-conference team in 1996 and 1997 and the ACC All-tourney Team in the same years.

Jim’s achievements were not confined to the field; he was recognized as a USILA Scholar All-American in 1997 and received the Duke University Scholar-Athlete of the Year award in the same year. He was a team captain for Duke lacrosse in 1996 and 1997, and his impressive track record continued as he received the Team MVP title in both those years.

Jim’s dedication to lacrosse extended beyond playing; he served as an Assistant Coach from 1999 to 2001. His contributions were invaluable, making him an integral part of Duke lacrosse history. He held the title of all-time scoring leader for Duke Midfielders until 2015.

A Stint in Major League Lacrosse

Jim Gonnella’s passion for lacrosse led him to the Major League Lacrosse, where he played as a midfielder for the Bridgeport Barrage in 2001 and 2002. His entry into the league was impressive, as he was a lottery pick and one of the 18 seed players for the inaugural MLL season. His talent was quickly recognized, and he earned the title of MLL All-Star in 2002.
