Early Success at West Genesee High School

A two-year varsity starter, he earned All-County honors as a Long Stick Midfielder and played a key role on the 1984 West Genesee team that reached the New York State Finals.
That 1984 squad tied the national high school lacrosse record with 91 consecutive wins. The following year, Scaramuzzino helped lead West Genesee to the 1985 New York State Championship. He also represented the 1984 Scholastic Central Team at the Empire State Games, becoming part of the first team in that division to win a Gold Medal. In recognition of their historic achievement, the entire team was inducted into the Upstate New York Chapter of the Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2016.
Collegiate Career at Syracuse University

Following high school, Scaramuzzino continued his lacrosse career at Syracuse University, where he became a four-year starter for the Orange. He started three seasons at Long Stick Midfielder and established himself as a reliable leader on one of the nation’s premier programs.
Scaramuzzino was a member of Syracuse’s 1988 and 1989 NCAA National Championship teams and served as a captain of the 1989 championship squad. His individual accomplishments included earning Second Team All-American honors at Long Stick Midfielder and selection to the North–South Collegiate All-Star Game.

During his time with the club, the team captured the North of England League and Division Championship for the first time in 30 years. Scaramuzzino earned multiple All-Club and All-Tournament honors throughout his post-collegiate career.
In addition, he played professional indoor box lacrosse for five years, including time with the Syracuse Smash. In 1991, he received the Sixth Man Award in the Major Indoor Lacrosse League.
