As a Syracuse University midfielder, Ron Doctor earned All-American honors and played in the North-South All-Star game in 1971. In 1972 and 1973, he coached the Syracuse JV team. In 1983, he became the initial head coach of the Skaneateles Boys lacrosse program. 

Ron has won two fewer games at Skaneateles High School than the legendary Roy Simmons, Jr., his college coach, has won at S.U. (Simmons 205 wins, Doctor, 203 victories). As an Orange midfielder, Ron earned All-American honors and played in the North-South All-Star Game in 1971. His Skaneateles lacrosse teams have won four league titles, three Sectional Championships and five sectional final appearances. In 1994, he coached the Central Region team to a gold medal in the Empire State Games. He was recently appointed Head Coach of the Iroquois Nationals for the 1998 World Games.

In 37 years as the varsity coach, his teams accomplished: 

  • 512 wins 
  • 17 League Championships 
  • 10 Section 3 Championships 
  • 2 Regional Championships 
  • 1 Upstate Championship 
  • Produced 7 All- Americans and 2 Academic – All – Americans 
  • Skaneateles players participated in college lacrosse at 75 universities and colleges 
  • In 1994, he was the Head Coach of the Gold medal-winning team in the Empire State Games.
  • Ron Doctor served as the Head Coach of the Iroquois Nationals in the lacrosse World Games in Baltimore in 1998 and in Australia in 2002.
