Chief Oren Lyons was inducted into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 1992.

Career: Played for the New York Lacrosse Club from 1959-1965, the New Jersey Lacrosse Club from 1965-1970, and the Onondaga Athletic Club from 1970-1972.

Senior Year (1958): Selected as a third-team All-American…Co-captain.

Junior Year (1957): Selected as a third-team All-American…Co-captain…Won SU’s Laurie Cox Award and the Orange Key Award.

Sophomore Year (1956): Received honorable mention as an All-American.

Personal: Grew up on the Onondaga Reservation…Received the Howdy Myers Man of the Year Award…Recognized with the Syracuse University Lettermen of Distinction Award in 1989…Received the Howard E. Johnson Award in 1991…Inducted into the Syracuse University Sports Hall of Fame…Sits as the honorary chairman of the Iroquois Nationals Lacrosse Team…Faithkeeper of the Turtle Clan of the Six Nations of the Iroquois Confederacy…Member of the Human Rights Division of the United Nations and one of the authors of Exiled in the Land of the Free.
