A Lifetime of Service to Youth Lacrosse

Building the Foundation: Brine Upstate Lacrosse League

John Sardella stands as one of the founding fathers of the Brine Upstate Lacrosse League (B.U.L.L.), an organization that transformed summer lacrosse opportunities for young athletes across the region. From 1985 to 2001, Sardella served as President of B.U.L.L., guiding the league through a period of extraordinary growth.

Under his leadership, the league expanded from just a few dozen participants into a thriving program serving several thousand boys and girls each summer. His vision, organizational skill, and relentless commitment helped establish B.U.L.L. as a cornerstone of youth lacrosse development in Upstate New York.

Coaching, Mentorship, and Service

Sardella’s influence extends well beyond league administration. He has devoted decades to coaching and mentoring players at every level. He served Le Moyne College as a volunteer assistant coach in 1985, and later as an assistant coach within the Liverpool Central School District in 1987, 1995, 1999, and 2003.

Since 1989, Sardella has remained deeply involved as a youth coach in Liverpool, shaping not only skilled athletes but confident, disciplined young people. His impact is measured not just in wins and losses, but in the countless lives positively influenced through the game.

From 1998 to 2001, Sardella also served on the Board of Directors for the Upstate New York Chapter of US Lacrosse, helping guide the organization’s mission and growth during a pivotal period.
