11th Annual Haudenosaunee Wooden Stick Festival

The Haudenosaunee Wooden Stick Festival will be held on September 11–13, 2026, at Onondaga Lake — the shore where Deyhontsigwa’ehs, the Creator’s Game, was first played more than a thousand years ago. 

Across three days, the weekend links four connected events:

  • The Alfie Jacques Ambassador Award Dinner honoring Dom Starsia, Michael Kanatakeron Mitchell, and Michael Kennedy.
  • The Restore Our Sacred Lake 5K marking the return of the eagle to Onondaga Lake after more than 200 years.
  • The free public festival with the Randy Hall Masters Wooden Stick Lacrosse Tournament featuring traditional stickmaking, Smoke Dance demonstrations, and Haudenosaunee foods and vendors, and a Sunday community cleanup of the lake.
