Josh Coffman was a stellar 3 sport student-athlete at Carthage High School in New York, playing football, basketball, and lacrosse. Following a Section III team championship in lacrosse during his sophomore year, Josh was named a high school All-American in lacrosse in his junior and senior years, 1997 & 1998. As a senior, he was Section III’s representative to the North-South game his senior year.

From Carthage, Josh went on to Syracuse University where he enjoyed an exceptional lacrosse career. In his first three years at SU, he played midfield where he earned All-American honors (2nd team) as a sophomore and was named a 1st team All-American as a junior. In his senior year, Josh switched to attack and again was named a 1st team All-American. Josh played in NCAA national lacrosse championship games in each of his four years at Syracuse, winning national lacrosse championships during his sophomore and senior years, 2000, 2002. In each of his final two years at Syracuse Josh was a finalist for lacrosse’s highest honor, the Tewaaraton Trophy, which is equivalent to football’s Heisman Trophy.

Following his graduation from SU Josh was selected as a midfielder on the 2002 World Championship USA Men’s Lacrosse Team in Perth, Australia. Josh was the first overall pick in the 2002 Major Lacrosse League (MLL) draft. He played for the Rochester Rattlers, New Jersey Pride, and Chicago Machine from 2002-2005. In 2003 he was named to the MLL All-Star team.

Currently, Josh teaches 6th Grade Social Studies at Lowville Academy and is also the varsity football coach. His 2016 football team won the Section III Class C Championship.

He is the son of Terry (deceased) & Sally Coffman and brother to Cassandra and Jason.

Josh and his wife Jasmine have two sons, Levi and Chandler. Josh’s induction follows his older brother Jason Coffman, who was inducted into the Upstate Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2012.
