Born in Carthage, New York, Powell discovered the game at a young age alongside his brothers, Casey and Michael. Powell rose to national prominence at Syracuse University, where he established himself as one of the most dominant players in NCAA history. A four-time NCAA Division I All-American, he set the standard for excellence at the collegiate level and became a symbol of consistency, toughness, and competitive fire. His success carried seamlessly into the professional ranks, where he earned All-Star honors in both Major League Lacrosse (MLL) and the National Lacrosse League (NLL).

Under Powell’s leadership, Rhino expanded into full operations in Oregon, Montana, and Central New York, while hosting camps in Arizona, Wyoming, Maine, Montana, Oregon, New York, Idaho, and Washington.

Powell’s vision extended into event creation as well. He founded premier tournaments, including the Oregon Lacrosse Classic and the Saratoga Lacrosse Shootout, providing competitive platforms that further strengthened the lacrosse ecosystem at the youth and high school levels.

In 2015, after nearly two years of research and development, Powell added another chapter to his legacy with the launch of Powell Lacrosse Sticks, his own equipment company.
