Marshall Abrams

Marshall Abrams began his lacrosse journey in his parents’ Wayne and Virginia’s backyard with his older brothers Percy, Vernon, Morris, and his younger brother Michael. Eventually, Marshall found himself playing attack at LaFayette High School and hockey at Corcoran High School. Always a team-first athlete, Marshall then switched positions in his senior year at LaFayette to defense. Marshall was able to instantly make an impact for the Lancers and eventually was honored as an All-American at the end of the season.

Years of training as an attackman aided Marshall as he played defense at Syracuse University.  Knowing where shooters liked to be and stripping the ball from them before getting there was a hallmark of Marshall’s play.  But once the ball was off the turf and in Marshall’s stick, his attack skills came into play.  Often Marshall would stay in the offensive zone to carry the ball to pass, shoot, score, and even provide a few highlight behind the back goals for the Orange.  Marshall was awarded All-American honors three times, named the country’s best defenseman, and helped win a National Championship for Syracuse University in 2000 in his senior year.

After college, Marshall played for the Rochester Knighthawks, where he was one of their defensive pillars.  Marshall played for the Knighthawks for nine seasons and won one NLL Championship in 2007.

Marshall was also a steady force on the Haudenosaunee Nationals field and box lacrosse teams.  Marshall earned a silver medal in Halifax, Canada, in a controversial overtime loss to Canada.

Marshall has also played many seasons of summer indoor lacrosse with the Six Nations Arrows and the Onondaga Red Hawks.  Marshall has also coached the Six Nations Arrows to two Canadian Minto Cup Championships in 2007 and 2014.
