Greg graduated from Lafayette High School where he starred in football, basketball, and lacrosse. He was named to the All-County Football and Basketball Teams and an All-American lacrosse player. Following his graduation from Lafayette, he went on to play lacrosse at SUNY Cobleskill and then at Syracuse University. He was named a two-time All-American lacrosse player at both Cobleskill and Syracuse. Greg was named the MVP of the North-South Senior All-Star Game in 1982. Greg was inducted into the Akwesasne Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2010. In 2011 he was named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Men’s Lacrosse Hall of Fame, and the Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame. In 2016 Greg was a member of the initial class of athletes inducted into the Lafayette High School’s Sports Hall of Fame. Greg Tarbell was one of the original members of the Iroquois National Lacrosse Team. He played in London, England in the World Lacrosse Tournament. He was known in the lacrosse world as a great player who possessed one of the hardest shots in the game. Greg was the loving father of daughter Jessica Tarbell. He was an ironworker who worked out of local 60 in Syracuse, NY. Greg passed away in January of 2018.
