Gordy coached at Lafayette High School in Lafayette, NY from 1965-77, where he compiled a 153-31-1 record. His teams were Onondaga County League Champs 9 times, and Section 3 and Upstate Lacrosse League Champs four times. Ohstrom was instrumental in forming the Onondaga County Lacrosse League, and currently the Exceptional Senior Game for Syracuse are high school players is held in his honor. Proceeds from this game are donated to the Leukemia Society.
