Francis “Babe” Kraus

One of the game’s legends, Babe played defense for Hobart College in the early twenties, then took over as head coach in 1927. He coached for forty years, and also served as Hobart’s Director of Athletics for thirty years. Kraus was actively associated with the USILA, and for over thirty years served on the executive committee. The Babe Kraus Award, given annually to the Division III Coach of the Year, honors his contribution to the sport.
