As the 1994 collegiate lacrosse season approaches, St. Lawrence head coach Don Leet is preparing for his twenty-fifth campaign; a quarter century of more wins (225) than losses (145); two and one-half decades of turning high school kids into collegiate All-Americans; eighteen winning seasons in the past 21 years.
Coach Leet has led his Saints to eight NCAA tournaments and in 1989 his stickmen won the Independent College Athletic Conference championship. The ICAC has now become the Empire Athletic Association and includes numerous schools noted for their lacrosse success. St. Lawrence, Ithaca, Hartwick, Clarkson, Alfred and RIT now make up the Empire League.
Don Leet was the 1979 Division III Coach of the Year. He has been a longtime member of the NCAA Lacrosse Committee and has coached 34 All-Americans at St. Lawrence, including both a USILA Goaltender of the Year and a Midfielder of the Year.
Coach Leet also coaches football at St. Lawrence working with the defensive line. He has helped develop several grid All-American performers.
Don Leet is being inducted as an Outstanding Coach.
