For nearly four decades, Chris Kenneally has stood as a pillar of leadership within the lacrosse community. Through dedication, consistency, and an unwavering commitment to player development, he has shaped one of the most respected high school lacrosse programs in New York State while influencing generations of student-athletes on and off the field.

A Legacy of Leadership, Excellence, and Impact in Lacrosse

Education and Playing Background

A graduate of West Genesee High School, Chris Kenneally continued his academic and athletic journey at SUNY Brockport before earning a Master of Science in Sports Education from Syracuse University. His passion for the game began early, as he played lacrosse in high school and college and later competed for the Syracuse Lacrosse Club, building a deep understanding of the sport from the player’s perspective.

Coaching Career and Program Leadership

Kenneally began his coaching career at Bishop Ludden High School, serving at both the junior varsity and varsity levels. In 2000, he assumed leadership of the Fayetteville-Manlius High School lacrosse program, a role in which he would leave a lasting mark.

As Varsity Head Coach, Kenneally compiled an extraordinary career record of 237 wins and 82 losses, achieving a 74% winning percentage. Under his leadership, Fayetteville-Manlius teams captured nine league championships, consistently competing at the highest level of Section III lacrosse.

Beyond wins and titles, Kenneally prioritized player development and academic achievement. Over 300 of his players advanced to play collegiate lacrosse, a testament to both the strength of the program and his commitment to preparing athletes for the next level.

Player Recognition and Achievements

Kenneally’s influence is reflected in the individual success of his athletes. During his tenure:

  • 18 players earned High School All-American honors
  • 4 players were named Academic All-Americans
  • 20 players went on to become College All-Americans

These accolades highlight a balanced emphasis on excellence, discipline, and growth — both athletic and academic.

Coaching Honors and Awards

Kenneally’s leadership has earned widespread recognition throughout his career. He was named Onondaga High School Lacrosse (OHSL) Coach of the Year in 2000, 2001, 2003, and 2006. Additionally, he received USA Lacrosse Coach of the Year honors in 2000 and 2006.

His sustained success placed him in elite company, earning him the USA Lacrosse Century Club Award for both 100 career wins and 200 career wins — a distinction reserved for coaches who demonstrate excellence over time.

Service and Leadership Beyond the Sidelines

In addition to his coaching accomplishments, Kenneally has served multiple terms on the Section III Lacrosse Committee and currently holds the position of Chairman, continuing to shape the future of the sport at the regional level.

He maintains active membership in several national organizations, including:

  • USA Lacrosse Coaches Association
  • National Federation of Interscholastic Coaches Association
  • National Lacrosse Foundation

Through these roles, Kenneally continues to advocate for the growth, integrity, and advancement of lacrosse.
