Robert Frazier Shaw

Bob Shaw grew up in LaFayette, New York. That almost automatically qualifies him for induction into our Hall of Fame. An All-County and All-Upstate selection at LaFayette High School, where he was class valedictorian, he attended Cornell from 1968 to 1972 and earned All-America honors in 1970, 71 and 72 playing midfield for Richie Moran’s Big Red. He captained the 1971 national championship team and his team won Ivy League titles from 1970 to 1972.

Like many lacrosse stars, the college experience did not get the game out of Bob’s system. He played on several club teams, including the US Team that played in the 1974 World Series of Lacrosse in Melbourne, Australia.

In 1973, while a graduate student at Harvard Business School, he organized the first Radcliffe women’s lacrosse team.

From 1974 to 76, Bob was Lacrosse Product Manager for the W.H. Brine Company. He helped introduce lacrosse to Japan, Israel and the U.S.S.R.
